Tips & Advice

NEW DÉCOR

For best results you should complete all the paintwork before wallpapering. All skirting boards, windows, dado rails, shelves, door frames etc should be painted beforehand.

NEWLY PLASTERED WALLS

If your walls have been freshly plastered you will need to prime them first before wallpapering. A ‘mist coat’ of either watered down wallpaper paste, or watered down white emulsion will give the wall surface something for the paper to bond to

CHOOSING WHERE TO START

It’s a good idea to start behind a door or somewhere fairly inconspicuous as this is also where you will finish and if the pattern doesn’t exactly match up it will be fairly hidden.

WALLPAPERING BATHROOMS

If you’re wallpapering a bathroom, shower room, kitchen or anywhere where there might be water splashes or condensation, coat your finished wallpaper with 2 -3 coats of ‘Polyvine’ Decorators Varnish. This is available in dead flat ( which is completely invisible ) and also protects against finger marks, stains and scuffing. A fantastic product available on Amazon
