Inspiration

Inspiration can come from anywhere. You might find ideas in a friend’s house, a magazine or on TV, but ultimately you want to make it yours. So pull all those ideas together and start to create a mood board of colours, fabrics, textures, etc. If you see a piece of furniture in a shop or even someone wearing a cool pair of shoes, snap a picture and pop it on the pinboard. It all adds to the picture you’re creating about what it is that you love. Surprising colours can look wonderful together, so don’t be afraid to juxtapose unusual shades.

Think outside the wallpaper

Panelling can be very helpful if you don’t want to wallpaper the whole wall, and it’s fun to pick out one of the colours, or perhaps use a completely different, complimentary colour to paint the panelling. It can also be very useful in a bathroom or ‘high traffic’ areas.

Painting the woodwork, skirting boards, doorframes etc to match really brings the décor bang up to date and creates a wonderful statement.
